The Trapper’s Companion came in two models. The 6385 Right Hand Model and the 6386 Left Hand model. The left hand model is extremely rare, especially in collector condition. Only 1 knife in 10 made was left handed. The Trapper was made from about 1966 through about 1972. Designed for the Trapping community, it never had wide distribution and only a few were made each year. It was certainly not as popular as the Hunter’s Companion knife, a similar design. From the collecting chart for Gutman, the NY distributor for the USA, it was only imported for one year. I do not think that was actually the case as I have knives made in different years in our collection. In any case, it is one of those rare knives that collectors love. It has a beautiful, unique design adding to its desirable qualities that collectors knife like about it. They usually come up for sale on auction sites such as eBay about once or twice a year.
